Mind2Movie-2010 Competition

Meet some of the Film Makers in the Rochester Movie Makers Mind2Movie Competition. This weekend, 11 teams of filmmakers have been putting in marathon hours to complete films due Sunday (tonight) by 7pm. Thursday night the 11 teams got a line of dialogue, a character and a prop that needed to be included.
SAVE THE DATE- Tuesday night March 2nd you can see the films from this weekend and support local filmmakers and the Little Theater. We start gathering at 6pm in the Little Theater Cafe and show time for the films is 7pm. There will be a cash award of $250 for first prize and $100 for second prize to two of the filmmakers! We have the large theater and would love to pack the place. Bring your friends. Its a bargain at potentially 11 short films for only $5.00!

RMM Summer Shorts-2010

The RMM Writers Group has been working on potential scripts for the RMM Summer Shorts Screenwriting Contest at the March RMM Member meeting. March 29th any Rochester based screenwriter can have their 10 page or less script read at the Member meeting and maybe walk away with the coveted RMM Summer Shorts 2010 Best Screenplay Award.

RMM Youth Outreach Update

Rochester Movie Makers has been documenting a dozen young people from the city for Today Your Health, Tomorrow Your Future a film project whereby several inner city youth are committing to change their lives in a significant way for 60 days. RMM members are interviewing the kids every other week and documenting their successes and struggles along the way. The project needs help with editing and post production. If you are interested in helping with this project, filmed largely on Panasonic P2 cameras, email stan@SpeedHumpPictures.com.
Rochester Movie Makers Summer Internships

Rochester Movie Makers is working with RIT and the UofR to keep some of their most talented film students in town this summer to help produce the short films in the RMM Summer Shorts-2010. If you know of a student at either school, let them know these internships exist and invite them to any RMM meeting to learn more.
Eastman House/360-365/Rochester Talent Screenplay Contest:

RochesterTalent.com, Inc. proudly presents the 2nd Annual ScreenPlay Live! Screenwriting Competition. Screenwriters living in New York State will compete for the rare opportunity to have professional actors perform their work in a live reading as part of the 360|365 George Eastman House Film Festival, May 5h-10th, 2010. In addition, the winning screenwriter will be provided with travel and accommodations for the festival, and will be presented with an award at the reading.
Deadline: Entries must be received on or before March 17th, 2010. The Winner and runner-ups will be announced March 24th, 2010. The entry fee is $20 per screenplay. There is no limit to the number of screenplays you may submit. Submissions are accepted via electronic submission (to ScreenplayLive@gmail.com). Mail check or money order only to RochesterTalent.com, Inc., PO Box 23861, Rochester, NY 14692.
The competition is open to New York State residents only. All ages are eligible.

Some interesting numbers from RMM and www.RochesterMovieMakers.org
RMM set a record in January 2010 of 820 unique visitors to the website. Since the founding of RMM in June of 2007 there have been 12,524 unique visitors to the RMM website.
RMM has a record number of 38 paid voting members. Voting members pay annual dues of $25 or $10 for students to help RMM grow. Our annual expenses are very low with no paid employees.
You can support RMM and the mission to create, develop and promote filmmaking and filmmakers in Rochester by becoming a voting member. There is a donation button on the homepage.
