The Brighton Library

Thanks to the Brighton Library for welcoming us back for the monthly RMM Member meetings. The last meeting 6/28 was well attended. We are booked in the multimedia room at the Brighton Library for the July 26th RMM Member meeting and the August 30th RMM Member meeting. Those meetings start at 6:30pm. There is plenty of free parking. We are working on a new permanent home and still welcome any suggestions. This month we have guest speaker Pamela Spiteri from Drama Kids. She will talk about the resources Drama Kids have for local filmmakers and some tips on how to work with kids in film and video projects.
RMM Summer Shorts

This weekend the 5th of this years RMM Summer Shorts shot for two days. Boxed In is the film from Mary Willkens and Mike McCourt. There are 2-3 other films yet to schedule late this summer. To be a part of those films, watch the RMM forum for more information. www.RochesterMovieMakers.org/forum.
There were other productions that were looking for help with post, score and one feature looking for cast and crew weekends in late July through the fall. More information will come in the minutes from the last RMM Member meeting.
Save the Date-Mind2Movie-2011

The tentative dates for the RMM Mind2Movie-2011, a 72 Hour Film Marathon is 2/17-2/20/2011. Tentatively, your team will get a line of dialogue, a prop and a character on a Thursday night. You show up with a completed film that Sunday, 72 hours later.
Walk the Dream
------------------------------------------
The Walk the Dream team is in Indiana. They have dodged at least two life threatening storms along the way. So far the team is doing well, hearing amazing stories, seeing great acts of kindness and hearing great stories. Bruce Pilato

Bruce Pilato of Pilato Entertainment spoke at the June RMM Member meeting. He spoke on the basics of getting popular music licensed for your film, the importance of getting both permission from the writer and performer for the song you might use, what is available in the public domain, the story behind KTEL and using songs that sound like the original, but are not (live versions, re-recordings, etc.). He also talked about using websites that feature emerging artists for potential soundtrack songs like www.sonicbid.com.

Strategic Opportunity Stipends (SOS), a project of the New York Foundation for the Arts, working in collaboration with arts councils and cultural organizations across New York State, are designed to help individual artists of all disciplines take advantage of unique opportunities that will significantly benefit their work or career development. Literary, media, visual, music and performing artists may request support ranging from $100 to $600 for specific, forthcoming opportunities that are distinct from work in progress.
